Governors have been worried about the safety of children coming into school ever since the new building opened. It is simply wrong that 400 children and their parents have to come in along Archers Road – a busy, dangerous main thoroughfare – when there is a safe alternative. There’s a gate at the rear of the school that was in use for the first 60 years of Banister’s life, but closed to us when the new school opened. We have tried in the past to get that planning restriction reversed and are trying again this year. This time round we are recruiting parent power to see if that will make the difference.
Unfortunately, even with parent power we were unable to change the minds of the planners.
