Curriculum
Belief * Pride * Success
Banister Primary is a welcoming, vibrant and innovative school family where all children are empowered to grow as leaders and feel well-equipped for life ahead.
In order to achieve this, we aim for our children to: -
-
Believe in themselves and their abilities
-
Be proud of their achievements
-
Aim for success
To meet the varying needs of children at Banister, we have designed a curriculum based on their unique starting points and experience of life. Our curriculum planning ensures full coverage of the National Curriculum and Early Years Foundation Stage statutory framework. It has been further enhanced to promote and celebrate similarities and differences. As a result of this provision, our children feel safe and loved, relish learning about others and are immensely respectful and inclusive. This is important to us as we believe that this is the foundation required to enable children to learn and achieve the best that they can.
We are proud to have been awarded ‘School of Sanctuary’ status and the Gold Quality Mark for the teaching of Religious Education. We remain committed to prioritising these areas alongside the Spiritual, Moral, Social and Cultural threads that are woven through or curriculum design. Alongside this, our curriculum is further enhanced by the ‘Leader in Me’ programme and carefully considered range of school visits and visitors. The learning culture at Banister is based on a climate of high trust and ensures the on-going development of life skills and sustained academic success.
The curriculum we offer is evolving over time as we adapt to meet the ever-changing needs and interests of the children in the community.
